Maple Leaf 2008 fell on a very rainy day (one of the volunteers mentioned that it was the only time that he had ever seen a weather forecast predicting 100% chance of rain!)  In spite of that, 8 hardy souls took to their bikes to enjoy the routes that were planned out by route master John Crankshaw.   One of our first riders to leave came back a few minutes later to point out to us that the "orange" route was on yellow paper and the "yellow" route was on orange paper.   (Judy?  I think you and I need to fire our mapmaker!  That's the second time he's done that to us!)

In spite of all the rain, our riders reported that they really enjoyed the ride, and one of them rode 70 miles, and another rode over 50 miles!

The rest of us decided we were more comfortable under the rain shelter, where we socialized, grilled, ate, and cheered for the riders when they came back from their loops.

I want to thank all of my volunteers for making this year's Maple Leaf the best that it could possibly be under the conditions.
